Protein Fluff Recipe: 4 Versions
Let's not beat around the bush: dieting can be hard. It's obviously worth it in the long run, but it can be difficult to focus on a healthier endgame when there's a slice of delicious-looking cake right in front of you. You could munch on plenty low-calorie snacks, but so few of them are enough to satisfy a nagging sweet tooth.
A few clever dieters have shared in your woes, and they've come up with a brilliant – and mouthwatering – solution: protein fluff, a frozen, puffy dessert that resembles marshmallowy ice cream. It's easy to prepare, chock full of protein, and very low in calories. The best part, however, is that it tastes so good that you'd never guess it was actually healthy for you!
Too good to be true? That's what we thought, as well, until we whipped some up for ourselves. Here are four decadent versions of protein fluff recipe that you can try to make this incredible low-calorie snack for yourself!
1. Strawberry Protein Fluff
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup whey protein powder (We recommend unflavored, vanilla, or strawberry.)
- 1/8 to 1/4 cup milk (Almond, coconut, or dairy – whatever you prefer!)
Strawberries are some of our favorite fruits, containing high levels of immune system-boosting vitamin C as well as cancer-fighting antioxidants. Strawberries are delicious on their own, but this protein fluff recipe is nothing short of a treat.
2. Blackberry Protein Fluff
- 1 cup of frozen blackberries
- 1/4 cup of whey protein powder (We recommend unflavored, vanilla, or strawberry.)
- 1/8 cup of milk (Again, almond, coconut, or dairy – whatever you prefer!)
- 1 tsp of vanilla Stevia, vanilla liquid flavoring, or toffee liquid flavoring
High in bioflavonoids, low in sodium, and containing one of the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit, blackberries are some of the healthiest foods you could snack on. Fortunately, most of those vitamins and nutrients carry over into this protein fluff recipe, with the added bonus of increased protein.
3. Banana Protein Fluff
- 1 large frozen sliced banana (Pro tip: peel and slice the banana prior to freezing it!)
- 1/4 cup vanilla whey protein powder
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- walnuts and grated coconut to top with, if desired
Bananas are one of the most popular fruits of all time, and not just because of their simplicity. They're an excellent source of fiber and potassium, as well as nutrients that strengthen your heart and balance your blood sugar levels.
4. Apple Pie Protein Fluff
- 1 and 1/2 cups chopped frozen apple
- 1/2 cup vanilla whey protein powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
With the holidays coming up, you're going to dream about indulging in seasonal desserts. Apple pie protein fluff could be just as delicious as the real thing, and exceptionally healthier for you. Apples, of course, have everything from vitamins A through C to fiber. Adding protein powder with the tiniest dash of cinnamon will make this healthy snack a new favorite holiday tradition.
The directions for each protein fluff recipe are essentially the same – get them below:
1. Use a blender to combine all the ingredients into a smooth, creamy concoction.
2. With an electric mixer (or hand mixer), whisk the concoction for 4-5 minutes until it becomes light, fluffy, and voluminous.
3. Top it off with a couple tablespoons of cream or yogurt – and enjoy!
